Late Mr Sivarasa Nallaratnam (J.P.) was the founding president of Tamil Sebior Citizens Benevolent Society, Vic toaria and was a volunteer who did numerous number of community works without seeking any monetary benefits in Victoria irrespective of communities especially in Monash council area, City of greater Dandenong area, City of Casey area and Kingston Council area.

1. He was the President of the Tamil Senior Citizens Fellowship VIC, and was also its Secretary and committee member for several years and serving the different communities in Victoria.

2. He was the founder President of the Victoria Tamil Senior Citizens Benevolent Society Australia INC, and was holding that position until his last breath.

3. He organised the members of the Tamil community to participate in the celebration of the Clayton Festival, Oakleigh Festival and Ashwood festival organised by the Monash City Council and provided entertainment to all other communities living in Monash area and in other council areas which were appreciated by them.

4. He was a member and committee member in the Monash Interfaith group and an ordinary member in the Dandenong interfaith and Committee member in MIG Casey council areas responsible for creating peace and harmony among people of different faiths.

5. He was a Justice of the Peace (J.P) and helped all communities living in the Monash and Greater Dandenong council areas by signing documents etc on every Thursdays at Glen Waverley Police station and on Fridays at the Springvale Police station.

6. He organised and conducted smoke free seminars among the communities especially among the Tamils in the Monash area and Dandenong Area.

7. He organised picnics and excursions for the Tamils living in Monash & greater Dandenong; and other communities also participated in these.

8. Victorian Multicultural Commission recognized his CALD community work and awarded “Excellency award for the community work”.

9. He was awarded the VRR (Victorian Refuge Recognition Award) by the state government of Victoria for his services.

10. He promoted the members to participate in the “Harmony Walk” and he took the lead.

11. He invited professionals, specialists and others to deliver talks on health, safety, aged care matters and government matters including local and federal government matters etc. to the communities.

12. He was a member in the Drug Action Forum and Anti-Gambling Group which is functioning in Monash University and He was one of the members in the panel.

13. He was nominated for the Monash Volunteer award and was awarded a certificate.

14. He was awarded the CULTURAL DIVERSITY AWARD by the City of Monash.

15. He was a committee member in the Neighbourhood Watch in the Greater Dandenong area.

16. He was a committee member in the Public Transport Users Association in Victoria.

17. He has successfully completed the Opening Doors Community Leadership Program for Social Inclusion and obtained Graduate Certificate.

18. He initiated and presented a faith Radio once in a month on Sundays for Hindu Community in Casey 3 SER FM 97.7 from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

19. He was awarded the ‘Senior of the Year 2012’ by the City of Monash.

20. He attended Dementia Specific Seminar training conducted by Royal College of Nursing & Alzheimer’s Australia and transferred those knowledge to Tamil community.

21. He was given a special award by the City of Monash Council and City of Kingston Council “Strengthening Clayton and Clarinda Project 20102013 for outstanding contribution and support to the project”.

22. He was a member in the Reference group in SMRC Dandenong.

23. He very often joined with the Dandenong police and help them to do anti-crime activities at the Dandenong Railway station.

24. He organised the CALD communities to have joint activities in Greater Dandenong and Monash areas.

25. He participated in the Violence against women march which took place in early 2015 and took the lead and attended the meeting at the Drum Theatre with Tamil community group.

26. He closely worked with the SMR cultural Diversity Network (CDN) and attend “Practicing Positive Partnerships within Diverse Communities”.

27. He promoted CALD community women to participate in the Women’s Health in the South East (WHISE) for the Southern Metropolitan Region (SMR) in all the activities conducted by them.

28. He initiated and presented a Tamil Community Radio service on every Wednesdays on 3SER, 97.7.F.M. from 11.p.m to 12 Midnight.

29. He was a member in the E.C.C.V. Policy subcommittee and serving the CALD communities.

30. He was a member in the Family Violence Project working group run by the Greater Dandenong council.  

31. He was a member in the E.C.C.V. Policy subcommittee.

32. He was a member in Clayton, Clarinda South and Clarinda leadership group.

33. He was a committee member in the HAAG (Housing for the Aged Action group) Victoria.

34. He was a committee member in the PYUA (Public Transport Users Association of Victoria.

35. He was a member in the VPTUA (Victorian Public Tenant Users Association.
